With my 6-months worth paycheck in one hand, I realized I was standing at a crossroads. I was torn between depositing it at a bank and spending it for a laptop. You see, as a travel blogger, it is difficult to travel around without a laptop. I always believe it’s best to write about my experiences on the road immediately, while the memories are still fresh. I had had several frustrating moments when I had waited to get back to the city before writing and as I began writing, I could no longer recall the more important details of my trip. Not that my trips weren’t memorable, it was just that there were so many times when information overload got the better of me. So yes, the point is, I needed a laptop. It would be a great investment.
But then again, saving it seemed to be a wise choice, too. But if I chose to save it, where should I deposit my hard-earned money? For the longest time, it had been my habit to give my savings to my mom. My mom then deposits the money into an account under her name with a bank in Batangas. But I guess it was about time that I start my own account and handle all my finances myself. After all, I’m already 25.
Being an awfully indecisive person, I could not make a choice. Keep it or spend it? Either way, I would make a good decision. I was so confused… until I saw Angel Locsin the other week. On a billboard, that is.
Apparently, when you start a Savings Account, individual or corporate, with EastWest Bank, you also get a chance to win a Samsung RF511-S01PH Notebook. Now, that’s just awesome. This notebook is on a different league. It is a 2nd-Generation Intel Core i7 laptop that is perfect for a “power user,” somebody who runs heavy applications, programs, games, and multimedia! Given that I use Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, and other “hardworking” multimedia software, this power gadget will certainly make my life a lot easier.
Aside from opening an individual Savings Account, you can also join by having any of the following transactions with EastWest Bank:
- New or existing individual or corporate Deposit Account (Philippine Pesos or US Dollars). Savings or Current accounts, and Time Deposit accounts are covered.
- Unit Investment Trust Fund Accounts
- Purchases of PHP and USD bonds made through EastWest Bank
- Special Deposit Accounts and Repo Accounts
- Consumer Loans (Personal, Mortgage, and Auto Loans are all covered)
- Credit card transactions
But you know what they say, let’s not count chickens before they hatch. I’m planning to just deposit the entire amount to a new account with EastWest Bank, and pray hard to win this Samsung notebook this month.
If I win, then I get the best of both worlds. If not, then at least I was able to save with a trustworthy and reliable bank.
