When the Poor Traveler was planning this trip to Ilocos, I did not have much expectations. Sure I had heard about Ilocandia and all the raves about it before on TV but in all honesty, it did not really appeal to me. I just wanted to see the Bangui Windmills, Pagudpud and Vigan. That was all I wanted. But I [...]
Located in Barangay Balaoi in the town of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Kabigan Falls is 1.8km far from the national road and can be reached by foot in about half an hour although some of the locals we talked to that there were some vehicles for rent for those who don’t wanna walk. Next in the Poor Traveler’s itinerary was the Patapat Viaduct. This another destination we knew nothing about prior to this trip. But like all destinations in Ilocos we have visited, it was worth our time! Viewed 6823 times by 2103 viewers
Pagudpud. Probably the strongest reason the Poor Traveler embarked on this journey across Ilocandia. I had heard so many good things about Pagudpud that I just had to see for myself. But even when we were still at the Bangui Windmills, we knew swimming at this time of the year would be quite a challenge — the WAVES were just [...]
The Bangui Windmills — the Poor Traveler had been longing to see these enormous electric fans since the news broke that there were plans of harnessing wind energy in the Philippines. I had never seen windmills before (not counting those in kiddie cartoons I used to watch). That’s why standing before these giant fans was such a personal milestone. Viewed [...]
The Poor Traveler and his poor friends began the Day 2 of our Ilocos Road Trip at around 6am. The first stop for the day was the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. To be honest, before that moment, none of us had heard of this destination before. But I’m telling you, of all the places we have visited [...]
The Poor Traveler and his poor friends were having more ice scramble beside the Paoay Church when our Tour Guide fetched us. He asked if we wanted to stay longer at the church. The group talked and decided to just move on the next destination in our itinerary. Apparently, we would finally be going to the hotel where we will [...]
Next in our itinerary was the Paoay Church. I must say, I had very high expectations. It was one of the places that I was really looking forward to visiting in this trip. I’d seen hundreds of pictures of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and each one of them blew me away. But boy, none of those pictures did justice [...]
