I felt the love in Arashiyama’s Bamboo Forest.
The giant stalks seemed to take a bow as two lovers walked past us. Holding hands and wearing traditional kimono, they strolled deeper into the bamboo groves.
Located right outside Tenryuji Temple, the Bamboo Forest of Arashiyama is a breath of fresh air amidst the vibrant deciduous foliage of the famed district.
How to get to Arashiyama: From Kyoto Station, take the JR Sagano Line (aka JR Sanin Line) to Saga-Arashiyama Station (JPY 230). The bamboo forest is just a 5-minute walk from there. You’ll see plenty of signs along the way.
