There’s no denying that Tagaytay‘s popularity has rubbed off on its neighboring towns in the province of Cavite in the best possible way, helping boost local tourism and businesses along the way.

One of the towns benefiting from this growing wave is Alfonso. Once considered a quiet and often overlooked neighbor of Tagaytay, it has slowly carved out its own identity, especially in recent years, with the rise of trendy dining spots and unique attractions. Among them is the whimsical and colorful The Gingerbread House.

NO, you don’t need to secure a reservation before visiting. Walk-in guests are welcome. On weekends and holidays, you may need to queue at the entrance due to the number of visitors. On regular days, however, you can usually proceed straight to the ticket booth before entering the premises.

When is the best time to go?

As expected, weekdays tend to be less crowded, and on some days, you might even feel like you have the place almost to yourself. However, weekends and holidays are a completely different story, especially during the Christmas and New Year season when foot traffic peaks.

The Gingerbread House Sunny Day

We visited on a Sunday, and the place was already packed. Although the property is considerably spacious, it can feel much smaller once the crowds start filling up around the different attractions and photo spots around the area.

Most of the attractions are located outdoors, so the place is best enjoyed on a sunny day when you can comfortably explore the different areas. But there are also indoor activities and covered spaces, making a visit still possible even during rainy weather.

How to get to The Gingerbread House?

The Gingerbread House is located in Barangay Palumlum in Alfonso, Cavite. It’s quite far from the highway, but the usual jump-off point or landmark from Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway is the gasoline station across Splendido Taal in Barangay Upli.

DLTB Bus Tagaytay

  • Public Transportation. From Manila, take a bus bound for Tagaytay or Nasugbu from Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) or Pasay. Ask the driver or conductor to drop you off at the gas station across Splendido Taal in Barangay Upli. The fare is P130-150. You’ll find a tricycle terminal along Alilio Drive. Ride a tricycle and tell the driver you are going to The Gingerbread House. The trike fare is P100-150 per ride.
  • Private Car. It’s best to turn on your Google Maps or Waze app for directions and real-time traffic updates. From SLEX or CAVITEX, continue driving until you reach Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway. Then, turn right onto Alilio Drive. This is the barangay road next to the gas station across Splendido Taal. Keep driving and follow the directions on your navigation app.

Alternatively, if you are also planning to visit Queens Strawberry Farm, turn right onto the unnamed road before Anlilio Road and before reaching Splendido Taal. This road will first lead you to Queens Strawberry Farm. After your visit, just follow Waze or Google Maps to The Gingerbread House.

Is there a designated parking area?

The Gingerbread House has a designated free parking area for visitors bringing their vehicles. But if you arrive late or visit during busy days or peak hours, there are also nearby vacant lots that offer paid parking spaces.

Since we went here on a Sunday, the on-site parking was already full by the time we arrived. Fortunately, we managed to find a spot at one of the paid parking lots near the property, where we paid P30. Parking rates outside The Gingerbread House property usually range from P30 to P40 for cars and vans, and P20 to P30 for motorcycles.

What are the attractions?

As mentioned previously, The Gingerbread House was designed as one big playground for kids, peppered with numerous spots for picture-taking. Upon entry, you will be given a map to help you explore the whole place. There are two main zones: The Gingerbread House Area and the Green Pasture Area. Here are some of the highlight attractions:

The Gingerbread House Attractions

  • The Gingerbread House. The iconic building serves as the centerpiece and the symbol of the whole Gingerbread House business. It also hosts its on-site restaurant.
  • Three Mini Gingerbread Houses. These themed playhouses are designed for photo ops: Grinch Room, Beverage Room, and Pink Christmas Room.
  • Candy Village. A colorful section that doubles as a kid’s playground and hangout area, complete with food stalls and picture-taking spots.
  • Lavender Cottage. This features Lavender-inspired products displayed here for sale. This is also a photo session area.
  • Gingerfield. Found just beyond Candy Village, this relaxing outdoor lounge area is filled with fun corners perfect for OOTD shots.
  • Dream Catcher. A dedicated photo area where you can also try decorating your own gingerbread cookie for an additional fee.
  • Mini Museum. Discover the story behind The Gingerbread House while browsing displays of gingerbread house collection and other Christmas-themed items.
  • Candy Hall. Another vibrant spot for photos that also functions as an activity hall and venue for birthdays and other celebrations.
  • Artificial Snowfall. This happens on weekends only. Check the official Facebook page for the updated schedule.
  • Green Pasture. A peaceful and scenic setting tucked deeper within the property, creating a more secluded atmosphere. Take note that additional fees apply to this zone.

Where to eat inside The Gingerbread House?

The Gingerbread House’s main highlight is also home to its on-site restaurant, Whimsical. It serves all-day breakfast, appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, pizza, and main dishes, along with a selection of hot and cold beverages. They also offer kid-friendly options and group meals good for up to five people.

The Gingerbread House Restaurant

We had already eaten lunch at Queens Strawberry Farm before heading to The Gingerbread House, so we weren’t able to try any of the restaurant’s offerings during our visit.

Aside from the restaurant, you’ll also find several food stalls dotting the property and a bakery.

Is The Gingerbread House worth it?

Personally, I find the entrance fee a bit on the pricey side, especially since the main activity here is really just exploring and taking photos. But if you’re the type who enjoys visiting aesthetic, photo-worthy spots for your social media feed, you’ll likely have a good time here.

For families with kids, this place can also be one of the possible options. The entire area feels very much designed with younger visitors in mind, while also giving kids-at-heart plenty of playful, colorful corners to explore and enjoy being photographed.
