Okay, so you didn’t make it to Songkran this year: the water fights, the sticky streets, the whole wet, wild and wonderful street celebration. We understand the FOMO. We wanted to go bit missed it, too! But Thailand doesn’t stop being extraordinary just because the water guns are put away. In fact, the rest of 2026 has an entire calendar’s worth of reasons to book that flight!

Thailand in 2026 is nothing short of amazing. Here are five events that will make your trip extra colorful, extra memorable, and extra special.

Thailand Pride Month

Bangkok, Chiang Mai & Phuket
May – June 2026

Bangkok Pride Parade 2024

Two years ago, we had our very first Pride parade experience right in the heart of Bangkok, and it completely rewrote what we thought a Pride celebration could be. Bangkok has always been loud and proud, but this year, something bigger is happening: Chiang Mai and Phuket are stepping up in a major way, making 2026 Thailand’s most inclusive and far-reaching Pride season yet.

Chiang Mai Pride Festival 2026

Chiang Mai Pride Parade 2026

Chiang Mai kicks off Thailand’s Pride season first! The city’s celebration runs throughout May under the theme “Inclusive City,” a declaration that Chiang Mai is welcoming and embracing LGBTQIAN+ communities. It’s set to become Northern Thailand’s largest Pride gathering!

  • GEN ACT RUN (May 17). A community run raising awareness and funds for gender equality and human rights. To be held at Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization Park.
  • FORUM & COVER DANCE (May 22). Open conversations on LGBTQIAN+ rights, equality, and what it means to build a truly inclusive city. Plus, electrifying dance performances that put identity, creativity, and self-expression center stage. Happening at MAYA Lifestyle Shopping Center.
  • MOU Inclusive City & Pride Parade (May 24). A historic step forward as Chiang Mai formalizes its commitment to inclusion through the “Inclusive City” MOU. Then, Chiang Mai’s own Pride Parade from Chiang Mai Buddhist Center to Tha Phae Gate! The whole city, moving as one: LGBTQIAN+ communities, organizations, and allies united in celebration.

Bangkok Pride Festival 2026

Bangkok Pride 2026

The Bangkok Pride Festival 2026 runs May 28 to June 1, five days that transform the city into one of Asia’s most vibrant celebrations of diversity, identity, and equality. This year’s theme, “Patch the World with Pride,” sets the tone: joyful, intentional, and bigger than ever. Here are the highlights to watch out for:

  • Bangkok Pride Awards (May 28). An awards ceremony honoring the individuals, organizations, and changemakers who have pushed Thailand’s LGBTQIAN+ movement forward.
  • Bangkok Pride Forum (May 28 – June 1). A running series of public talks, policy discussions, and community conversations bringing together activists, policymakers, artists, and business leaders. It’s the kind of programming that reminds you Pride has always been about more than parades.
  • Bangkok Pride Parade (May 31, Sunday). Silom Road becomes the beating heart of Bangkok Pride. Over 150 floats will move through 3.8 kilometers of the city’s most iconic streets, from Nararom Intersection all the way to Thephasadin Stadium, accompanied by a rainbow Pride flag stretching more than 500 meters. It will run from 2 PM to 10 PM, winding past Khlong Chong Nonsi Park, Sala Daeng, Chulalongkorn University, Siam Paragon, and Siam Square.

This year, the parade is organized into six groups, each carrying its own meaning:

💚 Patch of Harmony (Nararom Intersection) — The heart of peace and quality of life.
💙 Patch of Unity (Soi Thaniya) — The power of safety and a home for all identities.
💜 Patch of Identity (Political Science, Chula) — Dignified gender recognition.
🧡 Patch of Dignity (Faculty of Arts, Chula) — Valuing all professions and labor equally.
❤️ Patch of Love (Siam Paragon) — Equal rights for all family structures.
💛 Patch of Spirit (Lido) — Connecting people through arts and culture.

All six converge at Thephasadin Stadium for the Pride Stage. Headlining the stage is Rabieb Wathasilp, a legendary mor lam group.

But that’s not the only parade to watch out for! Also taking place on the same day is the “Love Pride ♥ Parade, Bangkok,” which will march from EmSphere along Sukhumvit Road, passing through Asoke Intersection, Ploenchit, and Ratchaprasong before joining the main Pride Month parade at Thephasadin Stadium.

Phuket Pride Festival 2026

Phuket Pride 2026

Phuket has always known how to put on a show, but 2026 will be grander than ever before. The Phuket Pride Festival returns under the vision “Pearl of Asia,” and the island is stepping into that title with full conviction. Three convictions, to be exact.

This year’s festival is guided by three convictions:
Be Loud — Visibility & Advocacy
Be Proud — Identity & Culture
Be You — Safe Space & Well-being

Here are the highlights you shouldn’t miss!

  • Pride Exhibition. A visual journey through LGBTQ+ history, memory, and cultural identity, told through creative storytelling and immersive experiences.
  • Community Market. A showcase of local entrepreneurs, artists, designers, and community-led initiatives. Shop, discover, support.
  • Phuket Pride Beach Volleyball (May 29–31)
Sun, sand, and solidarity. A beach sports event celebrating wellness, inclusivity, and community spirit along Phuket’s iconic coastline.
  • Phuket Pride Beach Volleyball

  • Pride Talk Vol. III (June 4). An academic and policy forum bringing together voices from across sectors for honest conversations on rights, equality, and what comes next.
  • Pride Talk Volume III

  • Miss Queen Andaman Power (June 5). One of Thailand’s premier transgender beauty pageants, celebrating confidence, identity, and the power of being unapologetically yourself.
  • Miss Queen Andaman Power

  • Pride Parade (June 7). The festival’s grand finale. Starting at 5:00 PM along Patong Beach, the parade transforms the beachfront into a moving, colorful declaration of love, freedom, and self-expression.
  • Pride Parade Phuket

This year’s edition is expected to be its biggest yet. And the momentum doesn’t stop at the festival itself. Phuket has been selected to host the InterPride 2026 General Meeting and World Conference from October 26–3. This is the first time in history that InterPride’s global gathering will be held anywhere in Asia! That’s a milestone not just for Phuket but for the entire region.

Yi Peng (Sky Lanterns Festival)

Chiang Mai
November 24–25, 2026

Chiang Mai Thailand Sky Lanterns Yi Peng

We are already booked. Flights, accommodation, the tickets to the event. Yi Peng in Chiang Mai has been on our bucket list for as long as we can remember, and we are finally making it happen this November!

If you’ve ever seen the photos of thousands of glowing lanterns floating silently into a full moon sky, then you understand why.

Yi Peng means ‘full moon of the second month’ in the Lanna calendar. It is a distinctly northern Thai (Lanna) tradition and is deeply rooted in Lanna Buddhist culture. It is centered on the release of khom loi (sky lanterns), which are symbolic offerings to the Buddha. They are said to carry away misfortune and honor ancestors in the heavens.

These sky lanterns together with the fireworks create what is arguably the most visually spectacular night in all of Southeast Asia’s festival calendar.

Yi Peng

A practical note: lantern releases inside Chiang Mai city are restricted for safety reasons, so the mass sky lantern experience takes place at licensed, ticketed venues outside the city like the famous Lanna Dhutanka ceremony at Mae Jo University. Book it early; the tickets sell out fast.

November is also one of the finest times to be in northern Thailand: the rainy season has passed, the air is cool and clear, and the mountains are green. If this has been on your bucket list too, consider this your sign.

Loy Krathong (Floating Baskets Festival)

Nationwide
November 25, 2026

Loy Krathong

Every November, on the full moon of the twelfth lunar month, people in Thailand set small handcrafted baskets called krathong onto the water of rivers, canals, and lakes. Each one carries a candle, incense sticks, and flowers, and as it drifts away, it takes with it whatever you’re ready to let go: grudges, worries, the weight of the year.

The word loy means simply “to float.” The tradition traces its roots to the ancient Sukhothai Kingdom over 700 years ago, when an offering of gratitude to Mae Khongkha, the Goddess of Water, was made for sustaining life. Today it is one of Thailand’s most beloved and widely observed festivals, celebrated by locals and visitors alike.

Loy Krathong Thailand Water Lanterns

Where to celebrate: Loy Krathong is observed all over Thailand. But if it’s your first time, here are some great options:

  • Sukhothai is considered the spiritual birthplace of Loy Krathong, and its celebrations are unmatched in historical atmosphere. The ancient ruins of the Sukhothai Historical Park are illuminated for the occasion, with light shows, traditional performances, and enormous crowds gathering across multiple nights.
  • Bangkok draws some of the largest gatherings in the country, with the Chao Phraya riverbanks, Lumpini Park, and Asiatique all becoming focal points for the evening.
  • Chiang Mai pairs Loy Krathong with Yi Peng (which I explained in the previous section). The combination of krathong on the Ping River and thousands of glowing lanterns rising silently into the night sky makes it the most magical place in Thailand to be on this date.

Wherever you are in Thailand on November 25, you won’t be far from a celebration. Just pick a riverside spot, buy a krathong from a local vendor, light the candle, and let it go.

Wonderfruit Festival

Set on 40 acres of farmland at The Fields at Siam Country Club, just outside Pattaya, Wonderfruit has been quietly building since its 2014 debut into one of Southeast Asia’s most beloved cultural gatherings: part music festival, part art residency, part wellness retreat, part farm-to-table feast. The festival runs from late afternoon to sunrise each day.

The 2026 edition runs December 3–7 and is expected to draw around 25,000 attendees from over 70 countries. Past musical acts have included Bonobo, Peggy Gou, and Khruangbin alongside beloved Thai artists like Milli and Phum Viphurit, spread across multiple stages. But music, while wonderful, is only part of the story. Wonderfruit’s art installations are extraordinary, too! They’re often large-scale, interactive, and built from sustainable materials.

Its food programming rivals Bangkok’s best restaurants, centered on a farm-to-table philosophy. Wellness offerings span yoga, breathwork, sound healing, and meditation. Its talks program brings together thinkers and creators exploring consciousness, sustainability, and the future.

What makes Wonderfruit special isn’t any single element but the intentional curation of everything together. It feels like a community that happens to have incredible music. If your idea of a festival involves more than just headliners and mosh pits, this one is for you.

Early bird tickets typically range from 8,000–12,000 THB for a full pass (approximately $230–$345 USD). Glamping packages are available on-site, and the venue is about 90 minutes from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Tomorrowland Thailand

Wisdom Valley, Pattaya
December 11–13, 2026

This is not a drill. Tomorrowland, the world’s most iconic electronic music festival, is coming to Asia for the
very first time. And it chose Thailand!

Tomorrowland Thailand

Tomorrowland Thailand 2026 runs December 11–13 at Wisdom Valley in Pattaya, a purpose-built 237-acre site in the hills of Chonburi Province, about 90 minutes from Bangkok. The festival is backed by a formal partnership with the Thai Government and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Over 50,000 people per day are expected across the three-day run.

The Thailand edition carries Tomorrowland’s signature ‘Consciencia’ theme, explored through six emotions: wonder, love, anger, happiness, desire, and sadness.

For the first time in Asia, the festival will feature the legendary Mainstage, plus the iconic CORE and FREEDOM stages. There is no on-site DreamVille camping (unlike the Belgium edition), but official hotel and shuttle packages from Pattaya and Bangkok are available.

Timing-wise, Tomorrowland (Dec 11–13) follows Wonderfruit (Dec 3–7) by just four days. For the truly committed, a December Thailand trip could include both: back-to-back, wildly different in spirit, equally unforgettable.

Tickets went on sale in March 2026 and sold quickly. Check the official Tomorrowland website for any remaining availability and only buy through verified channels!

Thailand is calling. From Pride parades to lantern-lit skies to world-class electronic music, Thailand in 2026 is a full year of reasons to book your ticket! And we hope to see you at one or more of these festive events!
