Batangas takes pride in its many beach towns, and Laiya is among its go-to beach destinations. It continues to draw crowds from Manila and nearby provinces, especially during the summer months. Beyond its inviting shores, the area also serves as the jump-off point to Mount Daguldol and Mount Hugom, making it an ideal choice for adventure-seekers looking to combine a scenic hike with a refreshing swim.
Its popularity has grown so much that “Laiya”, which technically refers to just two barangays in the municipality of San Juan, is now widely used to describe the town’s entire southern coastline. At present, this long stretch of shore is dotted with a mix of private and public resorts, giving beachgoers plenty of options no matter their budget or travel style.
In this article, we are rounding up ten of the top beach resorts in Laiya AND neighboring barangays, based on traveler reviews online. Note that the list is in no particular order, but the first five are properties we’ve personally booked in the past.
We also provided each resort’s Agoda link for more convenient booking. You can save on costs by using our promo code AGODATPT for up to P6000 discount. That’s actually 8-10% OFF, capped at USD 100, so that’s roughly P6000 based on the current exchange rate.
To automatically redeem this discount, just visit www.thepoortraveler.net/agoda or, if you prefer to use the Agoda mobile app, on the bottom menu, tap on the DEALS button and enter the promo code AGODATPT on the coupon field. Search and book a hotel as usual, but upon checkout, enter AGODATPT again. Yes, you need to enter it twice for it to work.

1. Camperisti Club Laiya
If you’ve ever wondered what van life is like, some hotel concepts offer a taste of this lifestyle. One such place is Camperisti Club Laiya.
This unconventional stay takes glamping up a notch with Airstream-inspired camper trailers set right by the beach, each with its own outdoor porch. There are two types available: the regular Camperisti, which can accommodate up to four guests, and the Premier Camperisti, which has a maximum capacity of six.
Our team booked a Premier Camperisti. From the outside, it looked a bit cramped, but the space turned out to be surprisingly roomy. The interior is outfitted with a private bedroom with a queen-sized bed, an ensuite toilet and shower, a kitchenette with a refrigerator, and a combined living and dining area. Other provisions include toiletries, coffee and tea-making facilities, a flat-screen TV, bottled water, towels, bedroom slippers, a safety deposit box, free WiFi, a drying clothes rack, and an outdoor dining area.

Booking a camper also grants access to Club Laiya’s recreational facilities, such as an infinity pool, kiddie pool, cabanas, lounge chairs, water activities, and restaurants. As of writing, there are only two dining options inside Club Laiya: The Sands, which serves modern Filipino dishes, and Captain Barbozza, which offers grilled fare and an international selection. You can also take advantage of the resort’s water sports activities.
An overnight stay at a regular Camperisti costs around P13,000 (USD 214). It can accommodate up to four guests, so that’s P3250 (USD 53.50) per person per night.

2. Cocoons Club Laiya
We didn’t actually stay at Cocoons Club Laiya, BUT we were able to try the ones at their Calatagan South Beach (CaSoBe) branch. The units are pretty much the same — intimate, Instagram-worthy lodging experience. However, if you suffer from claustrophobia, this may not be the best option for you.
Resembling massive cylindrical concrete pipes, these unique accommodations function like sleeping pods, but with added amenities. Both their Poolside Cocoons and Garden Cocoons are both conveniently located near the beach.

The cocoon community comes with shared shower rooms and toilet cubicles, WiFi access, basic toiletries, and towels. In-room amenities include a flat-screen cable TV, a safety deposit box, a mini refrigerator, complimentary coffee and bottled water, and space-efficient storage.
Although each cocoon has a maximum capacity of two adults, it can still accommodate one child. You may coordinate with the front desk for additional services and other needs.

Guests also have access to Club Laiya’s swimming pools, beach chairs, sand pit lounge, garden lounge, and two restaurants. Water sports are also available.
While it may seem like a budget-friendly option, rates are still quite steep at around P4500 (USD 74) per night, good for two persons, or P2250 (USD 37) per person.

3. Cala Laiya
Tucked away from the busier stretches of Laiya, Cala Laiya feels like a quiet retreat the moment you step in. The casitas are thoughtfully spaced across the property, offering privacy to its guests. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down and relax.
The beachfront itself is on the shorter side, with some rocky parts, but what it lacks in length, it makes up for in its overall tranquil atmosphere. It also has two infinity pools, perfect for an unhurried dip while taking in the view of the beach.
Beyond the shore, Cala Laiya boasts a lush, green landscape threaded with walking trails. During our team’s stay, there was a complimentary archery lesson, and of course, we gave it a shot — several shots, actually! The resort also doubles as a venue for special celebrations.
Accommodations range from standard garden casitas to three-bedroom units. Each casita comes with a patio that looks out to either the garden or the beach. Larger units have a separate living room and dining area. They design leans minimalist, paired with eco-friendly touches. Everything felt fresh, well-kept, and thoughtfully set up.
Rates start at around P7200 (USD 119) per night for two, inclusive of breakfast. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but for the sense of space, privacy, and overall experience, the resort stands out as one of the more refined stays along the Laiya coast. And, for us, it’s worth the splurge.

4. Acuaverde Beach Resort & Hotel
If you’re a fur parent wishing to go on a beach escape with your furbaby, this is one of the best beach resorts to consider. Acuaverde Beach Resort stands out as a pet-friendly getaway, offering a relaxing coastal escape even without a swimming pool. It even has a dedicated Pet Corner, which is a special area for your furry companions! The resort also provides pet care packages, a pet menu, and organized pet activities, so you can enjoy your stay alongside your furbaby while meeting other adorable four-legged guests. A maximum of two pets per room is allowed, with a pet fee of P1200 per pet per night. Be sure to review the resort’s pet policy as well.

The resort boasts one of the widest beachfronts in Laiya, ideal for a variety of beach activities. The shore is lined with lounge beds and beachfront sunbeds, perfect for relaxing by the sea. And where there’s a pet corner, there’s also a Kid Zone to keep younger guests entertained. Recreational options include water sports like kayaking, jet skiing, flyboarding, and others. Other amenities are spa and massage services, an in-house restaurant, and an alfresco bar. Acuaverde can also host weddings, special events, and corporate outings.
Each room is equipped with air-conditioning, a television, WiFi access, a mini refrigerator, a hair dryer, toiletries, and a hot and cold shower. Day trippers are welcome, too. For those planning to spend a night here, room rates start at P6500 (USD 106) for two, inclusive of welcome drinks, breakfast, all-day coffee and tea, and the use of kayaks and paddleboards, among others.

5. La Luz Beach Resort
Situated near a marine sanctuary and an interesting rock formation, La Luz Beach Resort & Spa promises a quiet, nature-filled vacation. Originally a private family rest house, the property later opened its doors to the public, sharing its lush tropical haven with those seeking a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Do note that the terrain can be challenging for seniors or guests with mobility issues.
Aside from the beachfront swimming pool, activities offered include helmet diving, kayaking, snorkeling, and various water sports. Despite being located beside Hugom public beach, where most day-trippers in Laiya flock to, La Luz still manages to maintain a sense of exclusivity, thanks to its relatively secluded setting. The resort also has a day tour option.
For those planning to stay overnight, La Luz offers a range of accommodations, including dorm-type rooms, loft-type rooms, and cabins. Most, if not all, rooms come with a terrace or balcony overlooking the garden or the beach. Some are also furnished with ceiling fans. The dorm and loft-type rooms can accommodate big groups. That said, our last stay here was years ago, before the pandemic, and we didn’t encounter any issues with our room that time. However, some recent reviews suggest that certain rooms and amenities may need better upkeep.
Also worth noting is the mandatory consumable food package fee per head upon check in. This already covers lunch (upon arrival), an afternoon snack, dinner, and breakfast the following day. This was actually our only issue during our stay, as we were not informed about this beforehand and were caught off guard. Outside food and beverages are not allowed, and bringing in liquor is subject to corkage fees.
A room for two costs around P6000 (USD 98) per night.
