You can still help PALU get on its feet!

Airline giant AirAsia has recently launched a campaign to build a relief fund in support of Palu, the Indonesian city that was shaken by a 7.5-magnitude earthquake in September.

Called #ToIDwithLove, the project aims to receive and collect donations onboard their flights for the entire month of October. The low-cost carrier will also make their own donation matching the total amount that the public donated. The fund will be handed over to Yayasan Arkom Indonesia and will be used to rebuild homes destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami. A portion of the fund will also be used to develop and improve future disaster resilience programs in the area.

You can help even if you’re not flying with AirAsia. You may donate online via AirAsia Foundation. For more information on how to help, visit www.airasiafoundation.com/relieffund.

AirAsia has also supported the recovery of Bali, Indonesia, after the terrorist bombings in 2005, by giving away 12,000 free seats on its flights. It mounted rescue flights from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur in November 2008 to help people stranded by the closing of the airport in Bangkok. Similar rescue efforts were extended in Padang and Jakarta in October 2009 to help those affected by the 7.6-magnitude earthquake that hit Sumatra island.
